I’m Ienne, a 27-year-old developer living in Hasselt. I studied Game Development, where I developed an interest
in both programming and creative problem-solving. I later studied Full-Stack Development, which led me to pursue
a career in web and application development. I developed skills in PHP, C++, C#, Go, Laravel, Wordpress,
DirectX11 and more.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing games, especially board
games, as well as practising yoga, drawing, painting, and working on various crafting projects.

Vzw Boemerang
This was my final project during my studies in Full-Stack Development. I found an outdated website and used the information from it as a basis to create a new, more modern version with an admin page to edit content and create events. This website is an unofficial project and was created for educational purposes.

GAME PROJECTS
Cartel Wars
Cartel Wars is a tactical two-player board game developed as a team of four. Our goal was to create a fun and strategic game that was easy to understand without being overly complex.
Players compete to defeat each other’s units or score the most points after five rounds. Each round consists of three phases: Trafficking, Auction, and Combat. Players manage their units, bid on new units and items, and strategically fight their opponent across short-, mid-, and long-range areas.
I worked as part of the team to design and develop the game's mechanics and systems, with a focus on creating a balanced and engaging tactical experience.
Cave Hunt
Cave Hunt is a tactical cooperative board game for 3–4 players, designed to be played in around 40–60 minutes. It was developed as a team of four.
Our goal was to create a more complex board game focused on teamwork and strategy. Players must work together to collect stacks of crystals while avoiding the monsters living in the cave.
Noise plays an important role in the game. Players can sneak, walk, or run, with each movement style balancing noise against the number of actions available. Monsters can wake up when players make too much noise nearby or when the area's awareness level becomes too high.
Players can move, explore, draw event cards, and use items during their turns. To encourage teamwork, there is no fixed player order, allowing the team to decide who acts first each round based on their strategy.
Technical art
Although I prefer programming, I also have a strong interest in 3D art, animation, and technical art. In this project, I explored several areas of the 3D art pipeline, including rigging, motion capture, 2D art, and 3D modelling.
For 2D art, I created game scenes and UI concepts using Illustrator. I also explored 3D modelling by creating a low-poly melee weapon with baked high-poly details, using Substance Designer and Substance Painter for the textures and Unreal Engine for the final presentation.
These projects allowed me to better understand the art and animation pipeline and how it connects with game development.
Heaven vs Hell
A 2–4 player party game developed as part of a team of three programmers and one artist. The goal of the project was to combine our skills and knowledge to create a fun and engaging multiplayer experience.
My main contributions to the project focused on programming and visual development. I implemented the point system, corruption points and stage-switching system, as well as character death and respawning. I also worked on the power-ups in the Hell stage, the camera system, and the Pink Swoosh, a cloud that sweeps players away.
Additionally, I worked on the UI together with another programmer and collaborated with another programmer on the melee combat system. On the visual side, I worked on post-processing, lighting, and the Game Over UI together with another programmer.
Behavior tree AI
In this project, I explored AI development for games by creating a small AI agent using a behaviour tree. The agent attempts to survive a zombie apocalypse by exploring houses, collecting items, reaching checkpoints, and avoiding or fighting zombies.
The agent can use a pistol, food, and medical kits, with its behaviour adapting to its current needs. For example, when hungry, finding food becomes a higher priority, while zombies are normally avoided or fought when the agent has a weapon.
The project helped me learn how to design and implement behaviour trees and use them to create more complex and dynamic AI behaviour. The code is not optimized as this was not a priority.
Galaga
In this project, I explored different programming patterns by implementing them in a small game framework. The patterns I worked with include the Game Loop, Update Method, Command, State, Observer, Singleton, and Component patterns.
I implemented support for multiple scenes, keyboard and controller input, two-player gameplay, game objects and components, and basic player and enemy behaviour. The Command pattern handles input, while the State pattern controls the behaviour of players and enemies. I also used the Observer pattern to detect events such as players or enemies being hit.
The main goal of the project was to understand how these patterns work and how they can be applied in game development. It also helped me identify areas where patterns should be designed more flexibly to make them reusable in larger projects.
Snake
In this project, I created a small game with simple gameplay while programming the graphics and engine features myself. The main goal was to learn how shaders and different graphics techniques work. Since the provided engine was incomplete, I also implemented several missing features, including shadows, post-processing, text and image rendering, skinned animations, a character controller, and a particle system.
The game is a simple snake game where the player grows by eating apples and ants. It includes a main menu, pause menu, and basic game controls. I also implemented a shadow mapping shader, a Sobel filter for edge detection and outlining, and used a geometry shader to render the grass.
Transformers RID
During my internship at Cartamundi Digital, I worked on an existing hybrid mobile application based on Transformers cards. I updated the application to a newer version of Unity, replaced outdated code, and updated the visuals with new assets and an Italian-only interface.
I also developed an augmented reality feature that recognizes Transformers cards and displays the corresponding character with different poses and information. The character uses multiple depth layers to create a parallax effect as the camera moves.
Working on an existing project was a valuable experience, as I had to understand unfamiliar code and learn how the application was built. It was also my first experience with augmented reality and gave me the opportunity to work with both frontend and backend functionality.

ABOUT ME
3D printing
For years now, I’ve enjoyed 3D printing both small and large things for around the house. It’s a fun hobby that allows me to tinker, experiment, and bring ideas to life.

I’ve always enjoyed gaming, from board games to digital games. My studies have also aligned with this interest, and it’s something I still enjoy to this day.
Art model
For six months, I have volunteered as a life model at the art school in Neerpelt. It is a role I really enjoy and find rewarding, and I plan to continue doing it closer to home in Hasselt.
Drawing
I mostly enjoy drawing and occasionally painting. I especially like working with white charcoal on black paper, but I’ve recently started experimenting with colour as well.
My cats
I enjoy the company of my cats and taking care of them. They bring so much life into my home, and in return, they get thoroughly spoiled.
